The Role of Poetry in Education Based on “Dangerous Minds” Movie

An ex-marine Mrs. Louanne Johnson who appplies as an english literature. The first day of teaching, Mrs. John's excited because it was promised to get special students who were smart. But the reality is different when she entered the class. It turned out that what she was facing was children who were difficult to control. Children who come from diverse races, still keep singing, talking and busy with their respective affairs. When trying to get attention, still she was ignored.
Mrs. John's gave an A score to all of her students, provided that they had to defend until the end of the year to graduate from high school. This attention and enthusiasm is then used to teach types of words, conjugations of words, meaning of words and meaning of sentences.
Mrs. John continues her efforts to teach about words and their use by giving chocolate and snacks for those who can answer or explain correctly. Motivations that are increasingly formed are then strengthened by the challenge of understanding poetry .
Mrs. John gave Bob Dylan's poems containing street life with drug traffickers and violence, as well as the ability to choose life. Mrs. John's wanted to teach them about the meaning of life by touching their lives directly.
Another problem when Durrel and Lionel, two twin brothers, left school because his mother thought Mrs. John had poisoned them with poetry and dreams about a future that was not relevant to their lives.
The incident made Mrs. John's shock  and decided to stop teaching at the end of the first semester. However, his students made Mrs. Johns aware of his teachings about choosing a way of life and not to give in to failure as she taught during this semester.
